Community Free Fair – 2026

Give what you can, take what you need!

Date: Saturday, August 22nd

Time: 12 – 4 p.m.

Location: Solidarity (King’s) Square, Saint John

This event follows the last free fair that offered free services: from community members to community members! This is mutual aid in action: a network of care and generosity to meet the immediate needs of our neighbors.

This event will feature several services: counselors, hair cuts, repair (clothing, kitchen appliances, and electronics), nail care, and more! We will have food, live music, art, games, and other groups present to share information and skills that are available across our community.

To volunteer your time or offer a service, please fill out this form.

We are collecting donations of non-perishable food items, personal care items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, etc.), and other consumable goods (toilet paper, cleaning products). Please drop them off at the donation drives on July 18 and July 25 between 12 – 3 p.m. in the P.U.L.S.E. parking lot (251 Wentworth st)

Like last year, we also have community members offering simple mending and repair services, free of charge. This includes, clothing, small electronics and appliances.

Please bring your stuff along and we’ll do our best!

If you know how to repair stuff and would like to offer your time and skills, please fill out the form above and we’ll be in touch!

More info on services and on navigating the fair coming soon!

Solidarity, Not Charity

The Community Free Fair serves as a model for a society outside of one based on constant extraction from the earth and violence against most of it’s inhabitants. It is based on the principles of Mutual Aid: where people work with nature and with each other in a relationship of shared responsibility. Mutual aid creates networks of care and generosity to meet the immediate needs of our neighbors.

The Community Free Fair has no strings attached: everyone is welcome. We also welcome anyone who wants to contribute to future events or wants to bring more ideas of mutuality into their own communities!
